Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Legal Diary, a software-as-a-service platform for legal practice management. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
1. The service
Legal Diary provides tools for managing matters, clients, hearings, calendars, time tracking, billing, trust accounts, documents, communications, and reports. The features available to you depend on your account role and chosen plan.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to use Legal Diary, except for the Law Student plan which is available to verified students aged 16 and above with parental consent where required by local law.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at info@LegalDiary.app if you suspect any unauthorised access.
3. Free trials and paid plans
Eligible new accounts get a free trial period as described at sign-up. After the trial, paid plans renew automatically at the published rate unless cancelled. You may cancel a paid plan at any time; you will retain access until the end of your current billing period.
Fees are quoted exclusive of taxes. You are responsible for any applicable taxes, duties, or withholdings imposed by your jurisdiction.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Legal Diary to:
- Break any law or facilitate unlawful conduct.
- Infringe intellectual property rights or breach confidentiality obligations of any third party.
- Upload malicious code, attempt to compromise the service, or scan for vulnerabilities without permission.
- Impersonate any person, including another lawyer or a client.
- Resell, sublicense, or republish the service without our written consent.
5. Your content
You retain all rights to the matter content, documents, notes, and communications you upload to Legal Diary (your “Content”). You grant us a limited licence to host, process, and display your Content solely to provide the service.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to upload and store any Content, including consent from clients and third parties where required.
6. Legal advice disclaimer
Legal Diary is a software tool. It is not a substitute for professional legal advice. Templates, calculators, suggested actions, and AI-assisted features are provided for convenience only and do not constitute legal advice. You remain solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and legality of the work you produce using the platform.
7. Service availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance, third-party outages, force majeure events, and security incidents may cause downtime. We will give reasonable advance notice of scheduled maintenance where practical.
8. Termination
You may close your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, pose a security risk, or remain unpaid past their grace period. On termination, you may export your data within 30 days; after that, data is permanently deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, or expense arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of England and Wales, unless local mandatory law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated at least 14 days in advance. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
